The Monday brief

What's in the CEO brief, what leaders get in their own recap, and where to find past briefs.

Every Monday morning, the CEO gets one short email that shows how last week went across the whole leadership team, decisions first. Each leader gets their own upbeat recap of their week at the same time.

When it arrives

By default the brief goes out Monday at 7:00am in the CEO's time zone and covers the week before. Owners and admins can change all of it in Settings → Briefs:

  • Cadence: weekly, daily, or both
  • Day and time for the weekly brief, and which days and time for a daily one
  • Sections: which ones show and in what order
  • Leader recaps: on or off

What's in the CEO brief

At the top: a one-line headline (like "31 tasks done, 9 of 14 on track, 2 need your call"), a few stat tiles and a short summary. Then these sections, in this order by default:

  1. Needs your decision: anything a leader flagged as needing the CEO, with a Reply button.
  2. Off track and newly needs attention: outcomes that need a look, with the leader's latest note on why.
  3. What got done: tasks finished, with the top few for each leader.
  4. Extra work outside their responsibilities, plus tasks with no links. Worth a quick look: maybe a responsibility to add, or something to hand off.
  5. Wins: good news from replies, outcomes reached and KPIs that hit their target.
  6. Still closing the gap: KPIs with distance to go.
  7. Next week's commitments from each leader.
  8. Check-ins: who has replied this week.

The weekly brief stays under 450 words, so it's a two-minute read. A daily brief stays under 150.

Where the numbers come from

Every number in the brief comes straight from your ClearAim data. AI helps write the headline and the summary lines, and ClearAim checks that every number it writes matches the real totals. If something doesn't line up, it uses a plain, fact-only headline instead.

Leader recaps

Each leader gets their own recap, written just for them:

  • What you got done this week
  • Your numbers: KPIs and outcomes
  • Coming up next week and your commitments
  • Replies on what's stuck, when a teammate or the CEO has answered
  • Your streak and any new badges, when celebrations are on

Anything matched from a reply has an Undo link, so a leader can fix it in one click. The recap is the leader's own view of their week. It isn't a copy of the CEO brief.

Past briefs

Open Briefs in the app (or press G B) to see the archive:

  • Owners and admins see every CEO brief and every leader recap.
  • Everyone else sees their own recaps.

Each one is stored exactly as it was sent.

Preview before it goes out

On the Briefs page:

  • Preview this period (or Preview my recap for leaders) shows what the brief would look like right now.
  • Send me a preview now emails that preview to you. Nothing is stored or sent to anyone else.

It's a great way to see the effect of a settings change before Monday.

Tips

  • Decisions come first on purpose. Clearing them early in the week keeps everyone moving.
  • Trim sections you don't use. A shorter brief gets read more closely.
  • Encourage leaders to note "why" when an outcome needs attention. The brief shows their own words.
